Biography

Roman Himey (born Kolomyia, Ukraine) and Yarema Malashchuk (born Kolomyia, Ukraine) both based in Kyiv, Ukraine. Graduated as a cinematographers from Institute of Screen Arts (Kyiv, Ukraine). Since 2013 working together on the edge of visual art and cinema as artists and filmmakers. Awarded with Grand Prix at Young Ukrainian Artists Award (MUHi 2019), Best Short Documentary at Festival Internacional de Cine Silente 2019, México, Collaborated as cinematographers with Metahaven ("Hometown", 2018) and Phillip Sotnychenko ("Son", 2015; “Technical Break” 2018). Yarema and Roman received Special Prize in 2018, in 2020 — Main Award at PinchukArtCentre Prize. Their debut documentary feature “New Jerusalem” premiered at Docudays UA International Film Festival 2020. The film received Special Mention Award at Kharkiv MeetDocs 2020. Shortlisted to Future Generation Art Prize 2021.
