About MUHi2026
The open call for the 9th edition of the MUHi Competition for Young Ukrainian Artists is now open!
Applications are accepted until 21 June 2026 (inclusive) via the link.
The results of the open call will be announced on 5 July 2026. Ten selected artists will participate in a group exhibition at the Promprylad Art Center in Ivano-Frankivsk, taking place in September 2026. An international jury will select the winner, as well as two runners-up, from among the finalists.
The competition winner will receive a cash prize of 70,000 UAH, the opportunity to realize their own project with curatorial support, a certificate, and a trophy created by Pavla Nikitina, winner of the First Prize at MUHi 2021. Two runners-up will each receive a cash prize of 30,000 UAH and curatorial support for the realization of their own exhibition projects. The award ceremony for the finalists will take place in September 2026.
Competition Rules
- Applicants must be Ukrainian artists aged over 21.
- Only citizens of Ukraine are eligible to apply.
- Finalists and prize winners are selected by a panel of experts (international since 2015), including curators, museum directors, art centre and gallery directors, art historians, critics, and artists.
- An artist may become a MUHi finalist only once.
International Jury of MUHi 2026
Maryna Hutz (Ukraine) — founder of the MUHi Competition and curator of contemporary art exhibitions.
Rae Jones (United Kingdom) — artist and researcher whose work has been presented through projects at the Royal College of Art, London Design Festival, and Barbican Centre; co-founder of Tool/Toy Project and member of the Steering Committee of OUTPOST Norwich.
Paul Haywood (United Kingdom) — Professor at Central Saint Martins (University of the Arts London), Co-Chair of the National Association for Fine Art Education, academic and practitioner with extensive international experience in art education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Isa Ho (Taiwan) — artist working with staged photography and digital image synthesis.
Kseniia Malykh (Ukraine) — curator and art historian, Programme Director of Promprylad Art Center.
Mariia Proshkovska (Ukraine) — artist and winner of the MUHi Competition 2017.

MUHi is a multifaceted initiative dedicated to the long-term support and development of emerging Ukrainian artists at crucial stages of their professional growth. The name MUHi is an acronym derived from the Ukrainian phrase “Young Ukrainian Artists and…” The first MUHi exhibition was presented in 2009 at Bottega Gallery.
