The series “My Beautiful. Wife?” was created over two nights in the spring of 2014 immediately after a phone call from Maria Kulikovska’s father. The conversation concerned the beginning of the occupation of their city, Kerch, by the Russian Federation. The artist had just returned to Kyiv from Sweden after coordinating a same-sex marriage-as-performance, which took place as part of the long-term project “Body and Borders.”
