There is a new foulard series by the ARTUP platform in collaboration with the artist Maria Proshkovska. The patterns are based on photographs of the mosaic panel “Blacksmiths of Modernity” by Ukrainian monumental artists Halyna Zubchenko and Hryhoriy Pryshedko, which is a sample of outmoded monumental art. The colorful mosaic glorifying the peaceful atom was created in 1972-1974 as a decoration for the Institute of Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, located on Nauki Avenue in Kyiv.

The method of creating the photographs was important to the idea behind them: they were filmed on photographic film found in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. The film underwent deformation due to the effects of time and radiation, which created a completely new, unexpected color spectrum in the developed photos. The new challenges faced by society today, with the threat of nuclear weapons use, give these works new meaning. The ambitions of political criminals who have turned the idea of a peaceful atom into a means of blackmailing all of humanity are understandably causing concern and drawing the world’s attention to this problem.

Foulard with prints by Maria Proshkovska are not just accessories, but true works of conceptual art that blur the boundaries between contemporary art and fashion. The presentation of this collaboration is capable of attracting the attention of a wide audience and emphasizing the universality of values ​​that are the basis of today’s civilized world and which Ukraine is bravely fighting for.
